Advanced Academic Services

The Advanced Academic Services (formerly Gifted and Talented) strives to support and assist districts in offering services to their gifted and talented population.

The AAS program offers the following to all districts:

  • Technical assistance to school districts via telephone and email
  • Information about upcoming state-sponsored conferences, institutes
  • Updates on legislative and state actions concerning gifted education
  • Information on the State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students
  • Professional Development opportunities for 30 hours of G/T qualifying training in the following areas:
    • Differentiated instruction for G/T instruction
    • Nature and needs of G/T students
    • Assessing needs of G/T students
    • Designing curriculum for G/T instruction
    • Setting standards for success of G/T instruction
  • Professional development opportunities for required yearly 6 hours update training
  • Training for administrators and school boards
  • Support for Parent Meetings and Parent Education workshops
