~ Director of Bands ~
Mr.
Russell Hopkins is the Director of Bands at Warren
ISD.
Mr. Hopkins moved to Texas and
joined the staff at Warren ISD, in 2002. He is a native
of the Fort Smith, Arkansas area, and is married to
Sara Jayne (Myers) Hopkins of Morrison, Oklahoma.
Before joining the staff at Warren, Mr. Hopkins was
an assistant with the Roland band program, under Mr.
Allen Lawson.
Education
- 1982 Graduate of Roland
High School, in Roland Oklahoma.
- Studies in Music Education at Oklahoma
State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where
he was a trombone student of Dr. Thomas Walker.
Additionally, he was a member of the Oklahoma State
Marching Band, Wind
Ensemble with Dr. Joseph Missal, Symphony, Jazz
Bands, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Basketball
Band, Trombone Choir, and various other small ensembles
and chamber groups.
- 2002 graduate of Excelsior
College of New York, with a Bachelor of Arts
in Music degree.
- 2002 - present Post Graduate studies in educaton,
at Lamar
University in Beaumont, Texas.
In addition to the Oklahoma State University ensembles,
other performance experiences have included performances
with the Fort
Smith Symphony Orchestra, The Fort Smith Chorale,
University of Arkansas at Fort Smith Concert and Jazz
Bands, Western Arkansas Wind Symphony, and various
other small ensembles and chamber groups at churches
in the Western Arkansas/Eastern Oklahoma area.
Besides music, other hobbies and interests include
fishing, golf, computers, and photography.
