Introduction: When a teenager leaves high school, they have a lot of unanswered questions. What will I do now? College/Trade School/Job? One questions that most young adults do not think about is how they will take care of expenses should any medical emergency occur. Most young people don't even think that they could get sick or even hurt, much less just how much it costs to go to the doctor or hospital.
Task: Students will be divided in to groups
Resources: Students may
use the following web sites to help with research.
Each member of your group must choose one of the following roles:
Role 1: Producer
Your job will be to keep your production assistants on task and to oversee
the entire
production. You will be responsible for arranging for the equipment
needed and to
facilitate the group as you work together. You must use the rubric
to check the
presentation and you must arrange for a peer to check it also. Ultimately
you are
responsible for getting the completed production to your teacher.
Role 2: Editor
Your job will be to put together and edit the production as it is being
produced. You will
need to check grammar, timing, the look of the slide, the sound of the
production,
etc. You must make sure that all quotes are credited correctly and
that no plagiarism
has occurred.
Role 3: Researcher/Writer
Your job is to gather the research and see that all members of the group
read at least
some of the information. You should take notes as you read the research.
(Or you may
assign different group members to read & take notes on the different
sites.) You must
make sure that all members understand what the research is saying and declare
their
opinion of what you have found. You should write the general script
of your presentation
and give it to the editor and producer to put into presentation form.
Be sure that your
information and conclusion comply with the components of the rubric.
Groups must create a Bibliography Slide for Web Sites used.
Evaluation: Alternate Groups
and the Teacher will use a teacher made rubric for assessment/evaluation
The teacher's rubric grade will count as a Test Grade and the students
rubric grade will count as a Daily Grade. In addition, each group
member will assign a participation grade to co-members. These scores
will be averaged for an additional Daily Grade. Total Grades, 1 Test
and 2 Daily Grades.
