"Behind the Scenes: Turning a Novel
into a Play"
Would you like your students to learn how
to think and work together as theatrical collaborators (writers,
directors, designers, actors)? Back by popular demand, this process
encourages your students to take on artistic roles to turn a “scene”
from a novel** into a short play. You will receive a “Behind the
Scenes” guide for each student outlining what activities they
need to complete for the DL session. Then, your students’ scenes
will be presented during the session. Your students will enjoy
creative decision-making while gaining an understanding of the
theatrical performance. Additionally, they will reflect on their
role as audience members.
**Titles available:
• Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible,
No Good, Very Bad Day
• Caddie Woodlawn
• Chocolate Fever
• Come Back, Amelia Bedelia
• Diary of Anne Frank

"Careers in the Arts"
Did you know there are over 300 arts related
careers? CMH will offer ideas of what subject areas should
be studied for art related careers and will help students realize
the impact the arts has on all careers. Students and teachers
will receive a study guide prior to the session to help students
prepare questions about arts careers.
