"Ethics in the Media"
How far will the media go to get a story?  Who feels the consequences of the choice that is made?  When is a story not a story?  Open to high school juniors and seniors who are working on their school newspaper or are in journalism classes.  These students will be set up in two teams of three each, with each student representing a News Director, Reporter and Anchor, or their counterparts in print.  Mark Thomas, WVIA’s Vice President of Broadcasting, will then present a series of events to the teams that challenges them to make news decisions of a varying degree of difficulty.  Students not on the team make up the audience for this exercise and would represent the viewers or public.  Mark will solicit their opinions or comments on the decisions that are being made by the two teams.

Tours of the master control room and production room are also available.
