What is Child Find/Child Serve

The purpose of Child Find/Child Serve is to actively search for individuals, birth through 21 years of age, with disabilities. If you are a parent and have concerns about your child or adult with special needs we can help. It is important to note that it is never too late to get pointed in the right direction.

All children grow and develop at different rates. The following guidelines can be helpful in determining if your child has the skills expected for his/her age.

Developmental Guidlines
If a child is 3 months old and cannot: Follow objects with eyes, or Grasp rattles or hair, or Respond to loud noises, or Lift head and chest while on stomach	If a child is 18 months old and cannot: Pull off socks and shoes, or Step off low objects and keep balance, or Follow simple directions, or Feed self sometimes
If a child is 6 months old and cannot: Roll over (both ways), or Sit with minimum support, or Reach for toys and pick them up, or Babble	If a child is 2 years old and cannot: Use 2 or 3 word sentences, or Identify hair, eyes, and nose, or Run short distances without falling, or Show affection
If a child is 12 months old and cannot: Say 1 to 2 words, or Crawl on hands or knees, or Play peek-a-boo, or Pull up to a standing position	Some behaviors which may indicate learning problems in school aged children 3 or older: Has limited speaking vocabulary Has difficulty comprehending what he/she reads Failure to recognize words on grade level Is unpredictable in behavior Is reluctant to attempt new assignments Does not remain on task
