School Health

The Texas Comprehensive School Health Network provides the following services for all school districts:

  • a yearly assessment of the status of health education needs in school districts
  • staff development for elementary and secondary health programs for teachers, staff development for school nurses and physical education teachers
  • technical assistance to school district staff in planning, reviewing, developing, and/or implementing health programs or curriculum resources on health related topics
  • technical assistance to school districts in establishing School Health Advisory Councils and/or provide ideas for improving an existing council
  • screener's training for vision, hearing and spinal screening
  • a free-loan Health/HIV resource library including videos, models and kits
  • assistance with compliance monitoring for health services
