Instructional Leadership Training

Instructional Leadership Training (ILT) is one of the three areas of mandated administrator training required for all administrators as stated in TAC #149.24. It is offered annually by Region 5 and is conducted during the summer. Notification and registration for the training is done through the SCOPE summer workshop program.

The 36 clock-hour training is usually conducted in five consecutive days. The sessions are composed of instruction in and application of principles of the effective schools, models of teaching, effective teaching practices, developmental supervision and conferencing skills.

The training is designed as a basic overview of supervising the art and science of teaching. It is a required prerequisite to the Commissioner's Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS)
